TIRUMALA: Following the serial bomb blasts in Varanasi on Tuesday, Superintendent of Police V.V. Gopala Krishna sounded high alert in the entire district, particularly at major temple towns such as Tirumala,Tirupati, Sri Kalahasti and Kanipakkam. Talking to The Hindu , Mr. Gopala krishna said orders were issued to intensify checks of all vehicles and lodges in all major towns, including those bordering Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. More focus has been attached on stepping up security arrangements both at Tirumala and Tirupati. Checks were intensified at Alipiri checkpost, Tirumala G.N.C Toll gate, Vaikuntam queue complex, Kalyanakatta and other vital points. Meanwhile, TTD vigilance and security officials have intensified security in and around the temple complex.
