Rain lashes parts of State

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Untimely rain lashed parts of the State through Monday-Tuesday, especially Telangana, under the influence of a trough.

At some places, it was a heavy downpour for a brief spell accompanied by strong gales and winds.

Hailstorm hit isolated pockets of Telangana region, damaging crops like mango which is now in the flowering stage.

Reports reaching here indicate that mango orchards in the Medak and Nizamabad areas suffered heavily with flowers and tender fruits falling.

On Tuesday, the skies opened suddenly over the capital city, bringing several low-lying localities under water and holding up traffic.

The State's maximum day temperature for the 24-hour period ended this morning was recorded by Kurnool at 37 degree C. Nizamabad recorded 2 cm of rainfall.

Rain is likely on Wednesday also.
