Manmohan's assurance to Karunanidhi

CHENNAI : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has promised to keep in mind the suggestions of DMK president M. Karunanidhi while deciding on providing reservation for Dalits among Christians and for Muslims.

In a letter to Mr. Karunanidhi, he said some of the suggestions were in the early stages of examination in Government. "However, these are issues on which final decisions can be made only on the basis of consensus. I would like to assure you that your views will be carefully kept in mind while these issues are discussed."
