CENTENARY FETE: Joseph Mar Ireneus Suffragon Metropolitan of the Mar Thoma Church inaugurates the valedictory meet of the year-long centenary celebrations of St Stephen's CSI Church at Kottanad, near Ranni, on Tuesday.
PATHANAMTHITTA: Saffragon Metropolitan of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church of Malabar Joseph Mar Ireneus has called upon the faithful to be cautious against the machinations of the material world. Mar Ireneus was inaugurating the valedictory meet of the year-long centenary celebrations of St. Stephen's CSI Church at Kottanad, near Ranni, on Tuesday. He said churches have to play a key role in guiding the faithful against the lure of the material world, where there was erosion of values in all walks of life. "The value-eroded world is trying in vain to bring even God into its clutches. God belongs to the entire creation and His blessings would be there to all the creations," Mar Ireneus said. Bishop Thomas Samuel of the Church of South India presided over the meeting. Abraham Kurien was the chief celebrant at the consecration ceremony of the centenary memorial, on the occasion. Joseph M. Puthusserry, MLA, District Medical Officer N. Damodaran, Philip P. George, Paul P. Mathew, Imam V.A.M. Shamir Moulavi, M.S. Daniel and Rajan Mathew also spoke.
