BHOPAL: The members occupying the treasury benches faced some embarrassing moments in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly on Tuesday as ruling Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Kishorilal Verma made the allegation that developmental activities were not being taken up on priority in the Scheduled Castes-dominated villages in his Assembly constituency. Mr. Verma, who represents the reserved Pandhana Assembly constituency in Khandwa district, pointed out during question hour that his proposals were not getting the priority they deserved and even went to the extent of telling the House that funds received for development related works were being transferred to non-Schduled Caste villages. His specific charge was that funds meant for electrification in SC/ST areas were being diverted irregularly to the general category villages. He also demanded a probe into the role of officials on this count. At one stage, when Mr. Verma was visibly agitated, the Speaker, Ishwardas Rohani intervened and said that the Minister for Scheduled Castes Welfare, Vijay Shah would solve each issue raised by Mr. Verma after getting them examined. Mr. Shah earlier told the House in response to Mr. Verma's queries that development works have been taken up in Mr. Verma's constituency. He also assured the House that Mr. Verma's suggestions would be given priority.
