DEHRA DUN: The bird flu scare gripped Uttaranchal once again with the recovery of nearly two dozen dead migrant birds in Jamankhata village, 50 km from here, on Monday. Although some of the dead birds were buried by the villagers, officials have sent a few carcasses for analysis and foresters are combing the nearby forests to find out if there had been more casualties. "We are not sure how the birds died but poultry farmers have been alerted to keep a watch on the behaviour of their livestock and report any mass deaths," a senior official said. Over 2,000 chicken had died in two poultry farms near Haldwani last month. The cause of these deaths was found to be food poisoning.
