Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The Communist Party of India will contest 10 seats, as a part of the Democratic Progressive Alliance led by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, in the Assembly elections.

The agreement was arrived at following talks between CPI State secretary D. Pandian and DMK president M. Karunanidhi on Tuesday.

Later, talking to reporters, Mr. Karunanidhi said talks were progressing smoothly with the Pattali Makkal Katchi and an agreement would be signed on Wednesday. Talks with the Congress, the CPI (M) and other parties would be concluded in the next few days. "I expect to finalise seat-sharing by the end of the week," he added.
