d> Power cut

CHENNAI: P ower supply will be suspended in Gopalapuram, V.O.C.Nagar, CIT Nagar I, Velachery West, Kalmandapam, Royapuram, Tiruvanmiyur, Sastri Nagar, Adyar and Anna Nagar East areas between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Thursday due to maintenance work.

College annual day

Staff members and students of G.S.S Jain College for Women celebrated its 15th annual day recently.

All-religion prayer meeting

An all-religion prayer meeting was held at General Cariappa Higher Secondary School on Monday.

Over 1200 students from various schools attended the meeting with their teachers.

Blood donation

Lions Club of Avishkaar, in association with SYMA Medical Centre and Lions Blood Bank, organised a blood donation camp in Triplicane on Sunday.

About 52 units were collected in the camp.

Election cell formed

The city police will set up a special election cell for receiving and collating instructions from the Election Commission.

"The cell, consisting of ministerial and executive staff, will be headed by an assistant commissioner,"

said Greater Chennai Police Commissioner R. Nataraj. The assistant commissioner will be assisted by three inspectors, nine sub-inspectors and constables as well as four ministerial staff.

The `election control room' will start functioning from the Commissionarate within a few days.
