CHENNAI: Two youths were killed in separate roads accidents in different places of the suburbs since Sunday. In the first accident that took place on Sunday night, Murugan, 27, of Injambakkam was hit by a Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus while he was crossing the Old Mamallapuram road at Perungudi. The bus, on its way to Thoraipakkam from T.Nagar, hit the cycle the victim was riding. The victim, a carpenter, was admitted with serious injuries at a hospital, where he died on Monday. At Nandambakkam, a 22-year-old youth was killed on the spot when a speeding van knocked him down while he was crossing the Mount-Poonamallee Road at Manapakkam on Monday. Vikraman, a B. Tech graduate was on his way back home after attending an interview at a private company when the accident took place.
Discussing safety
A discussion on safety, accidents, traffic among other problems and issues on the GST Road would be held at Chromepet on Wednesday. Organised by the Chromepet New Colony Residents Welfare Association, officials from government agencies would interact with residents and activists. The discussion would be held at Anandha Marriage Hall, GST Road, Chromepet (near MIT bridge) from 4 p.m. onwards.
