HYDERABAD: The Waiter on Wheels (WoW) is all set to go online. All that one will have to do to avail of this city-based unique home delivery service is to log on to www.dialamealindia.com. This is even as the dialling facility (55663333, 55667788 and 55666266) remains. The website of the six-year-old WoW service, which will be hosted on the web this week, has taken the home delivery concept in the city a step ahead. The test launch of the website last week, according to V. Phanikumar, the man behind the idea of facilitating home delivery anywhere in the city from over 30 of the city's top eateries, saw a staggering 50 online orders in flat 25 minutes from a single IT firm in Madhapur.
Quick parities too
Mr. Phanikumar says that the website will be of help mostly to busy techies and other professionals who want to book their lunch or a birthday cake for a colleague or even a quick party without having to step out of their offices. The web-savvy can do the same sitting at home as well, he adds. The concept, one that is gaining momentum by the day, revolves around bringing menus of several restaurants under a single roof. Mexican, Thai, Chinese, French, Continental, Andhra, name the cuisine of your taste and that too from the restaurant you like best. It will not be long before you see a waiter riding on a Pulsar delivering the dish at your doorstep, any time from 8.30 a.m. till midnight. Based near Model House in Punjagutta, Dial-a-Meal has on its list 30 premium specialty restaurants, economy restaurants, sweets/bakers/ice cream joints and even caterers who help customers organise parties in quick time.
The aim
Mr. Phanikumar's army of waiters has grown in the last six months, from 11 to 23, and has graduated from mopeds to Pulsars as well! "Quicker and better service is the aim," he smiles. The service charge, which depends on the distance, starts at Rs. 40.
