Staff Reporter

GUNTUR: Seventeen upper caste persons allegedly switched off power supply to an SC Colony in Vellaturu in Bollapalli mandal of Guntur district in the early hours of Tuesday and injured four women.

A small dispute between a jeep owner and a Dalit passenger led to a big quarrel. The dispute led to tension and upper caste men allegedly attacked the people in their houses in the colony.

Circle Inspector Gangadhar booked cases against 12 persons and identified them. Tension mounted in the village on Tuesday forcing the police to post personnel to maintain law and order.
