Rural job scheme works under supervision of Mandal Development Officers criticised

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Panchayati Raj Chamber has alleged that joint cheque powers by Mandal Development/District Planning Officers along with the sarpanches were continuing despite the assurance by Minister J.C. Diwakar Reddy. In a statement issued here after a meeting of the Panchayati Raj Joint Protection Committee here on Tuesday, Y. Babu Rajendra Prasad, chairman of the chamber, said continuance of the joint cheque powers was contrary to Mr. Reddy's promise that they would be vested with the sarpanches.
