HYDERABAD: The third annual State-level working model exhibition-cum-competition for engineering students - Srujana-2006 - will be held under the aegis of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad at Osmania University College of Engineering from Thursday. The popular four-day event for bringing out innate talent and innovations from engineering students from all over the State, would provide a platform for exchange of innovations and an opportunity for the industries and entrepreneurs to assess the budding engineers, according to Chairman of Nagarjuna Group of Companies and Reception Committee K.S. Raju. Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday, Mr. Raju said that engineering students prepared promising projects every year as part of their curriculum. But these unique efforts remained restricted to their institutions alone. ABVP had launched the event in various States like Maharashtra, Karnataka and Rajasthan besides
Programme
Andhra Pradesh to give students a new orientation to project work and give their work better exposure. Mr.Raju said that India has been recognised as new power base and this global opinion was reflected in the visits of US President and leaders from other countries. As India's strength was its vast pool of human resources, focus now was on empowerment of educated middle class and events like Srujana would aid that objective too. Genetics professor and former ABVP national president Manohar Rao said more than 700 entries were registered and after preliminary round held at Hyderabad, Tirupathi and Karimnagar, 108 papers and 150 working models were selected for final round. Technical quiz and shodh- finding solution to a practical industrial problem would be other events. In the entrepreneurship promotion programme, three successful entrepreneurs -- Anil Chawla, Y. Harish Chandra Prasad and Dasari Jai Ramesh -- would interact with participants. Many industrialists and academicians from various fields would interact with students. There would be cash prizes for best three working models, technical papers and technical quiz winners, said convenors Reykanth and Venkateswar Reddy.
