Struck by lightening

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Bahuleyan, 65, a resident of Parassala, died after being struck by lightening on Tuesday evening. Bahuleyan was standing in the courtyard of his house when the incident took place. He was brought dead to the Medical College Hospital. The body has been shifted to the mortuary. — Staff Reporter

Stale food seized

Thiruvananthapuram: The Health squad of the City Corporation on Tuesday carried out raids in 16 hotels in various parts of the city and seized stale foodstuff unfit for human consumption. The squad also initiated legal proceedings against the managements of the hotels. — Staff Reporter

Thiruvananthapuram: The computerisation of the tax license system at the Motor Vehicles Department has been completed. The distribution of computerised tax token started at the Saphalyam shopping complex, Palayam, on Tuesday. — Staff Reporter

Counselling programme

Thiruvananthapuram: The pre-examination counselling organised by the State Bank of Travancore and the Humanities Trust of India aimed at helping children deal with examination-related tensions and problems has started functioning here. Counselling assistance will be available on all examination days from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on telephones 0471- 3013100, 9446460717 and 9846805294, a press note issued here on Tuesday said. — Staff Reporter
