NEW DELHI: Shivani Rastogi, a Class XII student of Cambridge School, Sriniwaspuri, allegedly committed suicide by hanging at her house in the Krishna Nagar area of East Delhi on Tuesday. The police said she did not leave behind any suicide note, but she had to appear for her Mathematics examination on Wednesday and the pressure to perform well could have led to the tragedy. Tragically for the girl's father, Neeraj Rastogi, who is a senior manager with the Union Bank of India, the incident took place while he and his wife had gone to the local police station to lodge a missing report about their son, Vaibhav, a third-year engineering student of a Noida college. Vaibhav had gone missing in the morning and was untraceable. Since there was no response on his mobile phone as well, his parents went to the police station to lodge a complaint. In the meantime, Shivani who was alone in the house took the extreme step. It was the neighbours of the Rastogis who informed them of the incident over phone while they were at the police station. The Krishna Nagar police are conducting investigations to rule out the possibility of foul play.
