This Day That Age
The Northern Railway has introduced a new chair car for first class passengers, in which only sitting accommodation is provided. This is at present operating on the Flying Mail, between Delhi and Amritsar. The chair car is the first of its kind to be put into use on the Indian Railways. Using the new all-steel integral construction light-weight coach, one half has been fitted out to seat 16 short-distance first class passengers in tubular steel upholstered arm-chairs, while the other half of the coach has the conventional pattern of berths to cater to long-distance traffic.
