Muscat : Dempo Sporting Club began its Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Club championship campaign on a losing note, going down 1-3 to Oman's Al Nasr in a Group B match at the port city of Salalah on Tuesday. Mohammed Matoona opened the scoring for Al Nasr in the 57th minute connecting a Mohammed Mubarak cross from the right. But, a spirited fightback by Dempo resulted in the equaliser after the Indian side's Nigerian recruit Ranty Martins was brought down by Al Nasr goalkeeper Abdul Fael inside the danger area. Martins converted the spot-kick in the 73rd minute. Six minutes later, Martoona and Mubarak combined well with the former soaring high to head in a pinpoint cross for the Omani side. The Indian champion began to look a bit jaded and in the 86th minute, another cross from Mubarak was turned into an own goal by defender John Dias UNI
