Ghouse for Yorkshire minor county

HYDERABAD : Ranji discard and left-arm medium-pacer Md.Ghouse has been selected to represent Thongsbridge Cricket Club in Yorkshire for the fourth year in-a-row.

This Andhra Bank employee was awarded the `best bowler' in the league last season claiming 67 wickets from 22 matches with best figures of seven for 37 against Esholt Cricket Club. He also wielded the willow effectively scoring a century and five half-centuries.

Ghouse stint will last from April to September this year.

APOA classes

Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association will organise training classes later this month for announcers and commentators to keep them updated about the rules and regulations of different sports, according to L. Venkatram Reddy, secretary of APOA.

Fencing trials

Andhra Pradesh Fencing Association will organise selection trials for senior men and women to pick the State teams for the Senior nationals to be held in Amritsar from March 25 to 28. Interested should report at Hanuman Vyayamshala, Sultan Bazaar, here from 5.00 pm onwards.

C'Wealth Games

K. Ch. Punnaiah Choudhary, joint secretary of Badminton Association of India, has been named as manager of the Indian team that will take part in the Melbourne Commonwealth Games from March 14. Choudhary is also a qualified coach and has been administrator for close to three decades now in the BAI in different capacities.
