Pratibha's murder: court allows DNA test
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
The fifth Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Wednesday permitted the police to subject to DNA test Shivakumar, taxi driver who allegedly raped and murdered Pratibha Srikantamurthy, a BPO employee, in the city a few months ago.
A senior police official told The Hindu that the court permitted the prosecution to draw blood samples of Shivakumar for DNA test.
The police will send Shivakumar's blood sample and Pratibha viscera for DNA test to Forensic Science Laboratory in Hyderabad.
The police have decided to go for the DNA test to rule out any foul play. According to police, one of the reasons for opting for DNA test was to ascertain whether Pratibha was gang raped.
The police hoped to get the DNA report in a fortnight.
