Call to uproot foeticide

SALEM: The Society for Community Development Project organised a rally and a conference in connection to the International Women's Day here on Wednesday. A release said that Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic), A. George Devasahayam, flagged off the rally on the Bose Maidan.

Later at the conference, speakers discussed the role of women in various fields including medicine, politics, consumer awareness and education.

Protection

They insisted on the eradication of foeticide in Salem district, and urged the Government to ensure sufficient protection to women against sexual harassment at workplace.

The Project Director and Secretary, P. Murugessan, welcomed the gathering.
