They will be the youngest journalists at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. Armed with their cameras and a great deal of enthusiasm, Lipika Maharana, Virendra Chaudhari and Renuka will represent the non-government organisation Plan's goodwill youth reporters from India. Not new to the business of news, all these three children have had some experience of reporting. Representing the Capital, Renuka lives in Sangam Vihar. Already a filmmaker, she has helped produce a short film for the Children's Parliament. "Sports is also a good medium, which can contribute in the development of a country especially in children's life. But most children are denied this because of many reasons. I am going to produce a film with my team in which I would want to show why games are important in our life and also promote the right to play," she asserts. Not alone in her pursuit to use the images for change, Lipika who comes from Karanjia district wants to "orient" people about India. "I want to be recognised as a good child journalist like adult journalists in Australia. I will be happy in Australia if I can orient my friends there with certain values of our country, and if they can recognise my work," she says. Apart from exposure to cover an international event, these children will also get a chance to interact with other kids from Ghana and Pakistan. Their articles will appear on NineMSN. Mandira Nayar
