BHOPAL: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has said that it is unfortunate that 25 women are dying every day in Madhya Pradesh due to pregnancy-related complications. The Chief Minister was speaking at a special programme organised for legislators by the State Health Department on safe motherhood on Wednesday night to mark International Women's Day. "We have policies and schemes to address the issue but the major bottleneck lies in the implementation of various programmes," he said. The Chief Minister called for concerted efforts to build awareness among the people so that they could come forward and take advantage of schemes. "When people come forward it will strengthen the system and make it more responsive," he said. He also urged the legislators to help strengthen the monitoring system for better implementation of schemes meant for women. The Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker, Ishwar Das Rohani, who presided over the function, expressed concern over the large number of pregnancy-related deaths in the State.
