Special Correspondent
Srikakulam: District Collector A. Koteswara Rao, on Thursday, directed officials concerned to prepare a contingency plan to ensure drinking water to all during the ensuing summer. The plan should be ready by April 1, he said. Reviewing the arrangements with the rural water supply and Transco officials in his chambers here, Mr. Rao instructed them to inspect existing borewells and other drinking water sources in all villages and take up the required repairs. Drinking water projects should be completed by the end of March.
Tap connection
Under Indiaramma scheme, tap connection should be provided to all households selected for the programme, Mr.Rao pointed out. The Collector wanted some villages to be developed as models for supply of drinking water so that the same could be replicated in other villages in a phased manner. Officials of Rural Water Supply informed that one vehicle was allotted to each division to look into the drinking water problem. Efforts were also on to ensure drinking water through the Uddanam water scheme. Prakasa Rao, SE, Transco, O.Rajalingam, SE, Rural Water Supply and other senior officials attended.
