University to tie up with global industries

CUDDALORE: As part of its "world vision plan," Annamalai University at Chidambaram proposes to throw open its research facilities to international industries.

The university will soon tie up with overseas units, Vice-Chancellor L.B. Venkatrangan said at "SvayaMBAz-06," a management meet, organised by the Department of Business Administration on Tuesday.

Mr. Venkatrangan said he planned to set up a multi-storeyed "techno-park" on the campus to give an impetus to information technology, biotechnology, nanotechnology, food processing and research and development.

To broad-base employment opportunities, the number of placement cells had been increased to three. The cells had been set up in the engineering, business administration and agriculture faculties.

A. Sambandam, former Senate member, categorised business management practices into three groups: family-run companies; professionally managed ones; and the first-generation entrepreneurs. If the students read their biographies it would inspire them on how to build up their career against odds, and how to convert challenges into opportunities. B. Palaniappan, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, and N. Panchanathan, Head, Department of Business Administration, spoke.

About 200 participants from business schools across the country participated.
