Centre to give Rs. 3-crore grant State to release remaining amount Focus on strengthening basic policing
HYDERABAD:
Wireless sets for every beat constable, more patrolling vehicles, central command and control room with latest surveillance equipment: these are some of the loads of facilities the Hyderabad police will soon acquire thanks to the Rs. 4-crore grant they are to receive under the Centre's mega city policing project.
While the Centre would give a grant of Rs. 3 crore, the State Government would release the remaining amount as matching grant towards first instalment of the scheme, Hyderabad Police Commissioner A.K. Mohanty told a press conference on Thursday.
More Blue Colts teams with new motorcycles, additional four-wheelers for Rakshak patrolling teams to cover more areas, better communication networking for men on the field and supervising officers will be given highest priority.
By securing sophisticated surveillance equipment having video linkages, the officers will be able to monitor processions in Old City by sitting at the existing control room, which will be transformed into a new command and control centre.
