State geared to host ADB meet: Chief Minister

Special Correspondent

Hyderabad: The State Government is fully geared to host the annual general body meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in May, Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy told ADB President Haruhiko Kuroda here on Thursday.

Dr. Reddy, who hosted a dinner in honour of the visiting dignitary, discussed several issues with him, including industrial development in the State.

A press release here on Friday stated that the Chief Minister explained to Mr. Kuroda that several mega events like Kalachakra, Pravasi Bharati Divas and Indian Science Congress were held recently to the satisfaction of every one. If needed further upgradation of infrastructure would be done, he said, welcoming the decision to host the annual even of the ADB at Hyderabad.

He hoped the meeting would lead to new tie-ups on the industrial front as the State was planning to do some hard-selling of the opportunities and infrastructure available here compared to other States in the country.

Mr. Kuroda reportedly expressed happiness at the facilities here and assured him of full cooperation.
