`Bangalore needs a monorail system'

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Friday said Bangalore needs a monorail system also to complement the metro. He has asked investors in the project to take a quick decision.

Speaking to presspersons after attending a meeting on infrastructure with members of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here, Mr. Kumaraswamy said "we will not depend only on the metro," and the prime concern is to decongest Bangalore.

He said that the clearance given to the metro rail project for Bangalore by the Group of Ministers headed by Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar on Thursday is welcome. The State will hold discussions with Union Urban Development Ministry officials in New Delhi regarding the project on which work has begun.
