Legislative Council too clears amend bill

Lucknow: After its passage in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, the State Legislative Council on Friday approved the bill which exempts 79 posts, including the Chairmanship of UP Film Development Council held by Jaya Bachchan whose Rajya Sabha membership is under threat of disqualification from the list of offices of profit.

The UP State Legislature (Prevention of Disqualification) Amendment Bill 2006 when approved by the Governor would also help exempt top offices of U.P. Development Council headed by Amar Singh and UP Jal Nigam headed by State's Urban Development Minister Azam Khan from the list of offices of profit. PTI
