CHENNAI: Appin Knowledge Solutions, a company that offers highly technical courses for engineering students, has now launched its operations in South India.

It offers workshops in four technology areas that are constantly upgraded - Information Security and Ethical Hacking, Nano Technology, Dot net and it's applications (hottest platform language by Microsoft) and Robotics and Automation.

Each of the courses is taught over 24 hours spread over two weeks. The course material is also available in CD format in the self-learning `Hometech Course'.

Ishan Gupta, co-founder of the three-year-old company formed by former IITians, says their aim is to "bridge the gap between industry and academia". He describes the course as "niche, project-based and job-oriented". At the end of it, there is an online test after which the student is presented a certificate from Austin USA (the company is an affiliate of Appin Group of Companies, Austin, Texas).

Mr. Gupta says the certification is recognised by almost all institutions worldwide.

Currently, there are three centres in Chennai - Nungambakkam, Madipakkam and Adyar. There are also centre in Bangalore, Coimbatore, Erode and Salem. The Hometech course can be purchased online at appinlabs.com. Course details about the workshop are listed at appinonline.com.
