Power cut

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in Anna Nagar A - W Block, VOC Nagar, Shenoy Nagar, Aminjikarai, R.V.Nagar, T.P.Chathiram and part of Kilpauk Garden Road. on March 11 between noon and 3 p.m. for maintenance work.

TNEB booklet missing

Tamil Nadu Electricity Board has said that a booklet for consumption bills and miscellaneous charges containing 400 receipts (738801 to 739200) is missing in Sowcarpet West section. Hence, the public are requested not to make any payment under the above receipts.

BSNL extends Plan 100

BSNL has extended its Plan 100 postpaid cellular services, until now offered to government and public sector unit employees, to the general public.

This offer ends on March 31, 2006. The monthly rent is Rs. 100 with pulse rate of 60 seconds. Outgoing calls within the state to all BSNL phones is Rs. 1 per minute and other networks Rs 1.80 per minute. STD calls to other networks cost Rs. 2.40 per minute. Contact BSNL customer service centres for details.

Evening clinics inaugurated

Sri Ramachandra Hospital has inaugurated evening clinics in all its speciality departments between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. (Monday - Saturday). This is in addition to the regular clinics. For appointments, call 24761549/ 50.

Senior citizen nominated

Siva Somanathan, president of TN Senior Citizens and Pensioners Welfare Association has been nominated as member of the National Council for Older Persons, a press release here said.

Rally on Women's Day

Students and staff of Sindhi College of Arts and Science took out a rally on Women's Day. Songs, speeches and a skit on women's empowerment were also organised by the students.

Talent contest

The Management Department of Rajalakshmi Engineering College recently organised a talent contest in which final year students from 13 colleges took part. Various events such as adzap, business quiz, case handling, group discussion, and spotlight interview were held.

P.S.Pandiyan, Director of the college inaugurated the event and spoke on various career opportunities.

Students of SDNB Vaishnav College and Anna Adarsh College won the first and second places in adzap.

The Chief Guest B.Sashidharan, head-Finance, Mahaveer Safety Glass addressed the students and distributed prizes.
