CHENNAI:
The Madras High Court has constituted a three-member committee, headed by the Chief Secretary, to go into the complaints and representations given by locals regarding construction of a road overbridge at Tambaram Sanatorium.
The First Bench comprising Chief Justice A.P. Shah and Justice Prabha Sridevan was passing orders on a writ petition filed by the 12th Ward Residents Welfare Association, represented by its honorary general secretary C.P. Ramachandran.
The petitioners had prayed for the constitution of a high-level committee for considering various pending representations, especially the one submitted in August 2004, with reference to the feasibility of constructing a road overbridge from GST Road to East Tambaram at the Tambaram Sanatorium point.
The Bench formed a three-member team, comprising the Chief Secretary, Highways Department Secretary and the Director of Highways Research Station, P.M. Palanivelu, to look into the grievance of the petitioners.
