MADURAI : The Southern Railway will operate summer specials in April, May and June to clear passenger rush from Chennai Egmore to Nagercoil, Tuticorin and Madurai. According to a Southern Railway press release, the 0605 Chennai Egmore-Nagercoil special will leave Chennai Egmore on April 3, 6, 10, 13, 17, 20, 24, 27, May 1, 4, 8, 11, 15, 18, 22, 25, 29 and June 1, 5, 8, 12, 15, 19, 22, 26 and 29 (Mondays and Thursdays) at 8 p.m. and reach Madurai at 4.35 a.m., the next day. It will leave Madurai at 4.40 a.m. to reach Nagercoil at 10 a.m. The 0606 Nagercoil-Chennai Egmore special will leave Nagercoil on April 4, 7, 11, 14, 18, 21, 25, 28, May 2, 5, 9, 12, 16, 19, 23, 26, 30 and June 2, 6, 9, 13, 16,20, 23, 27 and 30 (Tuesdays and Fridays) at 1.30 p.m. and reach Madurai at 6.25 p.m. Leaving Madurai at 6.35 p.m., it will reach Chennai Egmore at 4.30 a.m., the next day. These specials will stop at Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Tindivanam, Villupuram, Vridhachalam, Tiruchi, Dindigul, Kodaikanal Road, Madurai, Tirumangalam, Virudhunagar, Sattur, Kovilpatti, Vanchi Maniyachi and Tirunelveli. The Nagercoil-Chennai Egmore special will halt at Mambalam also. The specials will have one air-conditioned two-tier and three-tier coach each, 10 sleeper class coaches, four general second class coaches and two general second class-cum-luggage vans. The 0603 Chennai Egmore-Tuticorin special will leave Chennai Egmore on April 4, 11, 18, 25, May 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 and June 6, 13, 20 and 27 (Tuesdays) at 8 p.m. and arrive Madurai at 4.35 a.m., the next day. It will leave Madurai at 4.40 a.m. and reach Tuticorin at 8 a.m. The 0604 Tuticorin-Chennai Egmore special will leave Tuticorin on April 5, 12, 19, 26, May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 and June 7, 14, 21 and 28 (Wednesdays) at 8.30 p.m. and reach Madurai at 11.35 p.m. It will leave Madurai at 11.45 p.m. and reach Chennai Egmore at 9.15 a.m., the next day. The specials will stop at Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Tindivanam, Villupuram, Vridhachalam, Tiruchi, Dindigul, Kodaikanal Road, Madurai, Tirumangalam, Virudhunagar, Sattur, Kovilpatti and Vanchi Maniyachi. The Tuticorin-Chennai Egmore special will also halt at Mambalam. These trains will have one air-conditioned two-tier coach, two air-conditioned three-tier coaches, 10 sleeper class coaches, three general second class coaches and two general second class-cum-luggage vans.
The 0613 Chennai Egmore-Madurai special will leave Chennai Egmore on April 2, 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23, 28, 30, May 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, 28 and June 2, 4, 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, and 25 (Fridays and Sundays) at 11 p.m. and reach Madurai at 8.45 a.m., the next day.
The 0614 Madurai-Chennai Egmore special will leave Madurai on April 1, 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, 29, May 4, 6, 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, 27 and June 1, 3, 8, 10, 15, 17, 22 and 24 (Thursdays and Saturdays) at 6.30 p.m. and reach Chennai Egmore at 4.30 a.m., the next day.
The specials will halt at Mambalam, Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Vridhachalam, Tiruchi, Dindigul and Kodaikanal Road.
Their composition will be one air-conditioned three-tier coach, eight sleeper class coaches, four general second class coaches and two general second class-cum-luggage vans.
