Mackenzie passes away

London: Former Hampshire captain Colin Ingleby-Mackenzie, who led the club to its first county championship title in 1961, died. He was 72.

Mackenzie was born in 1933 and was the county's last amateur captain. A wicket-keeper and left-handed batsman, he scored 12,421 first-class runs in his 15-season career, which includes 11 centuries. He also played for the MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club) and later became the president of MCC and also Hampshire Cricket Club in 2002. The Queen presented him the OBE (Order of the British Empire) in 2005.
