BANGALORE: Air Deccan has decided to return the airfare of all 40 passengers who were travelling in the aircraft that skidded off the runway at the airport here on Saturday. The airfare varies between Rs. 4,500 and Rs. 500. According to Warwick Brady, Chief Operating Officer of the airline, compensation will be paid on a case-to-case basis. The accident at the HAL airport affected a number of flights. Jet Airways flights to Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram and Air Deccan and Jet Airways flights to Kolkata were delayed. An Indian flight from Hyderabad and a Jet Airways flight from Mumbai were diverted to Chennai. A Jet Airways flight that took off from Chennai was sent back. An Indian flight to Bangalore that had taken off from Mumbai was sent back. At least 10 flights of Kingfisher Airlines due to depart from or land in Bangalore were delayed. Air Deccan cancelled for the day its Delhi-Bangalore and Bangalore-Kolkata flights. Marking the end of the disruption, a Spice Jet flight on its way from Chennai to Mumbai landed at 3 p.m. No international flights were due to operate during the four-hour closure of the airport. The injured passengers were taken to a 24-hour clinic in the airport terminal. Four of them needed first aid. Manju Mittal, 45, who fractured her left ankle, was taken to hospital.
