BANGALORE: A chartered accountant was murdered and his laptop, a wristwatch and Rs. 1,200 in cash was taken away near HDFC bank in Gandhinagar on Friday. The police gave the name of the victim as Rohan Paul (38) of Koramangala According to the police, Paul, who was working for a company in Ulsoor, was walking down Kalidas Road when he was attacked by four persons. Paul was stabbed by the culprits. A few employees of the HDFC bank who witnessed the incident called the Hoysala squad. But Paul died while he was being shifted to the Victoria Hospital by the police. The police said Paul, a native of Mangalore, was living in Koramangala with his wife. His father S.C. Paul is a retired Vijaya Bank employee. The Upparpet police have registered a case of murder.
Student killed
A tipper hit two motorcycles killing a student on the spot and injuring his three friends near a flyover on Old Madras Road in K.R. Puram on Saturday. The police identified the victim as Rajat Shukla (20), a BBM student of St. George's College in OMBR Layout. He was on the way to the Shiva temple at Marathahalli along with his friends Abdulla, Sakshi and Gautham, the police said. The injured have been admitted to a private hospital.
Burgled
Gold ornaments worth Rs. 2 lakhs were burgled from the house of a software engineer at Domlur Layout in Ulsoor on Friday. According to the police, Raghunath Singh locked the house and went for work in the morning. When he returned in the night he found that somebody had entered the house through the rear door and taken away the gold ornaments. The Ulsoor police are investigating.
Killed
A man was killed and another injured when two motorcycles collided on Sante Beedi on Madivala traffic police station limits on Friday. The police gave the name of the dead as G. Shah (32). Divakar Pillay (30), who was injured in the accident, has been admitted to a private hospital.
Vehicles recovered
The Thyagarajanagar police have arrested two youths from Tamil Nadu on charges of vehicle theft and recovered from them 19 two-wheelers, together worth Rs. 5.50 lakhs. The names of the arrested were given as Santosh Kumar (20) and Balakrishna (22), both from Krishnagiri district.
Robbed
Three men robbed a delivery boy of a pizzeria of Rs. 1,000 in cash and a mobile phone in Koramangala police station limits on Wednesday. The police said that around 10.45 p.m. the robbers waylaid Sreenivasa Reddy, who was riding a motorcycle, near Iblur junction on Koramangala Ring Road and robbed him. Reddy was returning to the pizzeria in 7th Block, Koramangala, after delivering pizzas to a customer. The Koramangala police have registered a case.
Arrested
The Central Crime Branch (CCB) officials on Thursday arrested Krishna alias Korangu, against whom there are 23 criminal cases, and his four accomplices. The police said they arrested Krishna (39), Rama alias Kothi Rama (27), Lingaraja (27), Ramachandra (20) and Rajesh (26) in Andhra Pradesh. Krishna, Rama and Ramachandra were wanted in connection with the recent murder of Mandya Krishna in Rajagopalanagar police station limits. Lingaraj and Rajesh were also accused in murder cases, the police said.
