This Day That Age
The Government of India have suggested investigation into the possibility of introducing trolley buses in Madras City to improve transport facilities. According to a spokesman of the Madras Government the proposal was mooted by the Government of India some time back and the State Government's reaction was that it was not feasible to introduce the system particularly at a time when the overhead wires of the tramways in Madras City had been removed. The Government of India are said to be keen that some investigation in this direction should be made and they have suggested that the possibility of introduction of the trolley buses on the Marina in the city could be studied. They have also promised to bear the cost of investigation. A similar proposal for introducing these buses in Bombay is also under consideration.
