THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Noted actor Suresh Gopi said that a coterie that kept him out of the film industry for about four years is active even after his forceful comeback through `Bharat Chandran IPS' recently. Addressing a meet-the-press programme organised by the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club here on Sunday, Mr. Gopi said that the coterie against him is still very active but that does not worry him anymore, as he is concerned only about his career and family. He, however, refused to elaborate on those who are working against him in the industry. His latest film, `Lanka,' directed by A.K. Sajan was released last week. According to Suresh Gopi, Mr. Sajan has tried to do something different from the beaten track. The film has something unique in terms of the theme and treatment, he said. `Lanka,' set in Sri Lanka, relates the tale of militants and Suresh Gopi acts as an army captain who is posted there. Although Suresh Gopi has an entirely different role in the film, he still cherishes the role in `Bharath Chandran IPS' that brought him back to the limelight yet again. Mamata Mohandas, the heroine in Lanka, who was also present at the programme, said that the role was a challenge and she decided to take it up since she felt there is no point in being inside a shell. She decided to take the challenge and prove her worth as an artiste. "Now I am happy with the outcome because I could perform well," said Mamata. Lanka is her fourth film and in her last film, `Bus Conductor,' she played a minor role along with Mammootty. Asked to differentiate between Mammootty and Suresh Gopi, she said: "Maybe because I spent a longer time with Gopi on the set, I find him very cooperative and helpful. I had a very minor role with Mammootty," said Mamata. She added that after her four releases, offers from other South Indian languages are coming thick and fast. She was in no hurry and would be selective. Her prime concern in her acting career would be to strike a perfect balance between glamour and not being just glamorous alone. Her next release is `Madhuchandralekha' with Jayaram directed by Rajasenan.
