Kairali's captivating jewellery show

WIDE RANGE: Gemstone and jewellery exhibition at the showroom of Kairali.

KOLLAM: From Jaipur cut gemstones to Korean design necklaces, a comprehensive gemstone and jewellery exhibition is under way at the showroom of Kairali here, the outlet of the Handicrafts Development Corporation of Kerala.

The captivating gemstones and jewellery comprise imported cut bead sets in a wide range of colours to match any hue of silk saris, strings of round gemstone necklaces, star and diamond design ornaments, jade and coral mix ornaments, nava ratna bracelets, mother pearl necklaces, traditional and ethnic design ornaments and pure Hyderabadi pearl sets.

The round gemstone necklaces comprise even those in ruby and sapphire. The cost ranges from Rs.11,000 to Rs.25,000 per string. Precious gemstones like ruby, sapphire, emerald and yellow sapphire are on sale at the rate of Rs.650 per carat. Hyderabadi pearls are sold at rates ranging from Rs.30 to Rs.110 per gram and coral at the rate of Rs.80 per gram.

One of the highlights of the show is that customers can purchase loose gemstones, corals or pearls and get them studded in choice jewellery designs at the showroom itself. The design is finished and given to the customer within a few hours.

Showroom manager S. Chandrakumar said that all items were guaranteed by Kairali and given a discount of 10 per cent. He said that the exhibition was an annual event for the last six years.

Last year's turnover through the show was Rs.6.50 lakhs. This year, the turnover is expected to touch Rs.7.50 lakhs. The show will conclude on March 31.
