RTC policies draw flak

VIZIANAGARAM: APSRTC staff and workers federation State general secretary R. Lakshmaiah has said that the agreement reached with the management during the two spells of strike in July and October last year was not so far implemented. He said at a press conference here on Sunday that the management had recently issued a circular not to accept applications from children of the deceased for appointment in the corporation on compassionate grounds.

Mr. Lakshmaiah said the SWF State Committee would discuss the lopsided policies of the management at its meeting in Hyderabad on March 20 and chalk out a plan of action.

The SWF State secretary, T.l.Kantam, regional secretary A.Nagabhushanam and convenor Ramulu were present.

Fibre boats distributied

State secretary of Indian Red Cross Society K.Rajayalakshmi here, distributed two fishing nets and 25 fibre boats that were donated by Hong Kong Red Cross Society to 27 groups (285 beneficiaries), who lost their boats and nets when tsunami hit the coast at Mukkam village in Bhogapuram mandal on Sunday.

Representatives of International Red Cross Society Lalitha Gurang, Collector B.Venkateswara Rao and Zilla parishad Chairperson B.Jhansi Lakshmi were present.

She said efforts would be made for sanctioning a cold storage if the fishermen families formed into self-help groups and contributed their share.
