Nurture leadership qualities, students told

Rameswaram : The Alagappa University Vice-Chancellor, P. Kanniappan, has urged students to nurture leadership qualities.

He was presiding over the inauguration of a three-day State level workshop on leadership development programme for NSS volunteers, jointly organised by NSS State Cell, Alagappa University, and Thassim Beevi Abdul Kader College here on Saturday.

He said thousands of Indian students occupied good position in various developed countries, including the United States and United Kingdom.

"No doubt that Indian students are known for innovative thinking, hard work, perseverance and talent. If they concentrate on gaining in-depth knowledge in their respective fields, they can certainly be world class students," he said.

The Alagappa University started village placement programme, a compulsory extension programme for all students with the aim of making students socially responsible.

The District Revenue Officer, V. Srinivasan, who delivered the keynote address, urged students to acquire good qualities.

R. Gurumoorthy, Lion's Past Multiple Council Chairman, inaugurated.

K. Vasavan, Assistant Programme Advisor, NSS Regional Centre, R. Veerasekharan, State Liaison Officer, NSS State Cell, and J. Sugumar, Rotary president, Ramanathapuram, spoke.
