Copra auction launched

ERODE: Copra auction was launched at Perundurai Cooperative Agricultural Marketing Society on Saturday. The Joint Registrar of Cooperatives, B. Joghee, inaugurated the sale.

On the first day, about 90 tonnes of copra was sold at Rs. 31.85 a kg. The farmers expressed happiness over the price. Till now, the farmers transported copra to Avalpoondurai Regulated Market. Mr. Joghee said the farmers could keep copra in the Society for up to seven days without any rent and they could obtain loan for the stock. The Society might soon start sale of vegetables also.
