RJD rebel is LJP candidate for Rajya Sabha

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Lok Janshakti Party on Friday decided to field Ranjan Prasad Yadav for the biennial elections to the Rajya Sabha from Bihar. There are six vacancies coming up from the State next month and March 18 is the last date for filing of nominations.

Mr. Prasad, a former rebel Rashtriya Janata Dal Rajya Sabha MP, hopes to garner 35 votes even though the LJP has just 10 MLAs. He is understood to be banking on the support of the Communist Party of India, Independents and the Bahujan Samaj Party.
