Fronts blamed for `upsetting' pay revision

Staff Reporter

State council meeting of NGO Sangh inaugurated

KOLLAM: State president of the Kerala NGO Sangh M.S. Shyamkumar has blamed both the LDF and UDF for upsetting the wage revision process of the State Government employees and teachers. He was inaugurating the State council meeting of the NGO Sangh here on Sunday.

He said that if the Government wanted to, a decision over the wage revision could have been taken by February 28 since the Wage Commission Report was submitted to the Government February 22. Mr. Shyamkumar said that though the Chief Minister had on February 20 announced the decision to have a discussion with the Opposition parties, the latter announced boycotting the meeting only on February 28. Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan even flatly refused to accompany Finance Minister Vakkom Purushothaman to meet the Election Commission with a plea for sanction to implement the wage revision. This again is a step that betrayed the employees, he alleged.
