Power cut

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in Kellys, Kondithope, Nungambakkam, VOC Nagar, Foreshore Estate, Teynampet, Thousand Lights, Chintadripet, Santhome, Muthialpet, Stanley, Mandaveli and Gopalapuram areas on March 14.

Blood bank anniversary

Lions Blood Bank celebrated its 23rd anniversary at Music Academy, with Madras University Vice-Chancellor S.P. Thyagarajan presided over the function. A souvenir consisting articles written by the members of the medical fraternity was released. Lions district governor K. Bhaskar offered felicitations.

Lecture on Budget

Guru Nanak College organised a lecture on `Understanding and Appraising of Budget 2006-07,' on March 10 at the college premises. Chief guest A. Rangachari, a former joint secretary, said that the budget should have long-term benefits. He said the Government should concentrate on fiscal management.

New counselling centre

Wisdom Medical Research Foundation inaugurated a new counselling centre at Perungudi for psychological and psychiatric problems. Persons can avail of free counselling.

Convocation

They presented a slew of demands including stopping the recruitment of teachers on contract basis.
