Coimbatore: The work for the construction of ramp facility at 3,636 polling stations in the 14 Assembly segments in the Coimbatore District was reviewed on Sunday. The District Election Officer and Collector, S. Kosalaraman, along with Election Tahsildar, S. Gopal, held a meeting with the PWD officials to take stock of the progress. It may be recalled that the Election Commission had called for setting up of such facility in every building that housed polling stations. This was aimed at putting the patients and senior citizens at ease. As far as polling stations in Coimbatore city are concerned, the Corporation has almost completed the work. The PWD officials were taken to a couple of schools in the city where the ramps have been constructed. The officials have been asked to expedite work in the other areas and send periodical reports. Later in the afternoon Mr. Kosalaraman along with Mr. Gopal visited polling stations in Pollachi and Udumalpet areas and supervised work for issuing Electors' Photo Identity Card.
