Councillor's petition adjourned

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: The Karnataka High Court on Friday refused to pass an interim order on a petition challenging the action of the Returning Officer to keep in abeyance the elections to the Krishnarajapuram City Municipal Council (CMC).

Justice N.K. Patil, who heard the petition in this regard, adjourned hearing of the petition by two weeks.

Jyothi, the councillor in the municipal council, had challenged the action of the Returning Officer who had withdrawn the election notification.

It was stated that the notification was withdrawn after the officer was told that a Division Bench of the High Court was seized of the matter.

The High Court, while staying the notification in April 2005, had referred the matter to the Division Bench for consideration.
