ANANTAPUR: A contract labourer working for AP Transco was electrocuted at Dharmavarm here on Monday. According to sources, Srinivasulu (40) was working on a pole in Rajendranagar during the unofficial power-cut hours as per the instruction of Transco authorities. However, power supply was resumed even before he could complete the maintenance work. The worker was thrown to the ground under the impact of the high voltage power and died on the spot. Later, his relatives and co-workers staged a dharna with his body in front of the hospital alleging that the negligence of Transco authorities had claimed his life. They demanded ex-gratia payment to the bereaved family and employment to the wife of the deceased.
