FOR A CAUSE: Members of the All India Democratic Youth Organisation staging a demonstration at Gandhi Chowk in Bijapur on Monda.
BIJAPUR: Members of the All India Democratic Youth Organisation (AIDYO) protested here on Monday demanding that the Government fill vacant posts of primary schoolteacher. They took out a procession and submitted a memorandum addressed to the Primary Education Minister to Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mohsin. B. Bhagwan Reddy, vice-president of the State unit of the organisation; Siddalinga Bagewadi, Sangareddy Desai, Hanumanth Budhihal and Shivakumar Kumatagi, district unit office-bearers led the members. Stating that the recruitment test for 4,700 posts, which was to be held on November 30, 2005, was postponed at the last minute following a stay order, they said the court had ordered that five per cent of the posts should be reserved for physically challenged candidates. The stay was vacated in December. However, the Government has not taken steps to fill the vacancies. They said hundreds of youths have been deprived of jobs. If the Government "fails" to respond to their demands, they will intensify their agitation, they added.
