PARADIP: The CISF unit of the Paradip Port Trust celebrated the CISF Raising Day on Friday at CISF Complex in Sector - 21. The celebration was a fitting culmination to the Security week which was organised from March 3 to 9. The Raising Day function began with colourful parade at CISF Complex, Parade Ground where the Chief Guest PPT Chairman K. Raghuramaiah took the salute from the band of CISF men. Commandant Hardeep Singh in his welcome address traced the history of CISF and the rationale in raising CISF by the Central Government in 1968 subsequent to the disastrous fire which destroyed property worth crores in HEC Ranchi. He described the changing face and dimension of the force when Airport Security duties were handed over to CISF. This apart, he enumerated the contribution of CISF in VIP Security, Government Building Security, Security of famous monuments like Taj Mahal and Lalqilla.
