Half-day for Metro on Holi

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Metro rail services will start at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, the day of the Holi festival.

According to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, the train services will not operate in the morning from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on that day. Normal services will run thereafter.

Seminar on `Lifestyle Medicine'

NEW DELHI: Harvard Medical School and Apollo Hospitals Group will jointly organise a two-day seminar on "Lifestyle Medicine" here from March 21.

Lifestyle-related diseases such as heart attacks, hypertension, diabetes, obesity and cancer are predominantly caused by overeating, lack of exercise, smoking and stress.

Award for promoting Indo-US relations

NEW DELHI: To mark the 76th anniversary of the Dandi March, Gandhian and former Ambassador Phillips Talbot was presented "Bharatiya Shiromani Puraskar" for his outstanding service in promoting Indo-US relations at a function here over the weekend.

The award was presented by former Tamil Nadu Governor Bhishma Narain Singh. Mr. Talbot, President Emeritus of The Asia Society, has served as the US Ambassador to Greece.

Best Airport Unit Trophy for CISF

NEW DELHI: The Central Industrial Security Force unit at Indira Gandhi International Airport here has been adjudged the Best Unit for 2005 among all the airports to which the force provides security cover.

Senior Commandant J.B. Kaushik, who heads the CISF unit at IGI Airport, received the Best Airport Unit Trophy from Director-General S.I.S. Ahmed here over the weekend.

The award is given by CISF headquarters annually.

Sadhu Samajam celebrations

NEW DELHI: The 27th anniversary celebrations of Akhila Bharatha Sadhu Samajam, Netaji Nagar, will be held at Sankara Vidya Kendra on Paschimi Marg, Vasant Vihar, here for 15 days from March 15.

According to the Samajam Secretary, S. Krishnamurthy, it has been organising religious discourses and music festivals for the last 26 years.

R. Hari, son of Krishna Premi, eminent Harikatha exponent, will give a discourse on Ramayanam daily at 7 p.m. from March 15 to 26. There will be Carnatic music concerts from March 19 at 3 p.m. to be rendered by renowned musicians from Delhi and Chennai -- Jayanthi Ravi, Neyveli Santhana Gopalan, Vijay Siva and Visaka Hari.

The celebrations will end on March 29 with Pancharatna Keertanai by Vasantha Krishnan, Lalitha Anand and party.
